Cartes de séjour do you get answer immediately?
I have a carte de séjour interview coming up shortly. Is it right that in any “usual” case the applicant receives an answer there and then? M.W.

Not really – all you can know for certain is if the official who meets you thinks the dossier is complete, ie. it contains all the documents that they need to assess the case.
The official may be able to give you his or her opinion as to whether you meet the criteria but the final decision will be made by their superior after further examination of the paperwork.
In some cases, it is possible that the prefecture may contact you for additional papers. It is also possible you may be refused.
However, in most cases, especially if your situation is relatively straightforward, if the application has been accepted, you will be issued with a card.
Many prefectures tell you to expect a text message on your phone when the card is ready to pick up, if all is well.
