List: French income tax declaration deadlines for 2026
Dates are based on location and declaration type

Declarations for income tax returns open this Thursday (April 9) in France, covering the 2025 year.
Tax authorities have now confirmed deadlines for completing the declaration, giving taxpayers six to eight weeks to do so.
Deadlines are based both on where your main residency is, as well as the type of declaration you are making:
Declarations on paper forms: Tuesday May 19
Residents in departments 01 - 19: Thursday May 21
People living outside of France: Thursday May 21
Residents in departments 20 - 54, and Corsica: Thursday May 28
Residents in departments 55 and above, including French overseas departments: Thursday June 4
Declarations must be made before midnight online (or for paper applications, have a postmark proving it was sent before this time).
Paper form declarations are only available to those who cannot declare online, due to a lack of internet or other issues or people who are making a declaration for the first time. Paper forms can be printed online or you can ask your local tax office for one to complete.
In all other cases, declarations are made through a person’s personal space on the impots.gouv.fr website.

You can use the official simulator to estimate your taxes for the 2025 year.
After declaration you will receive an avis (notice) in summer, informing you if you have additional payments that need to be made, are set to receive a refund, or have no further action to take.
As a reminder, tax bands increased by 0.9% – in line with inflation – for the 2026 declarations, and you can see the tax bands applicable here.

Authorities are already warning of scams associated with the declaration season, only expected to increase as the online service officially opens.
