May 20 is deadline to post paper income tax declarations in France

If you still use paper forms to make your annual income tax declaration in France, you must post your forms today.

"The deadline for the declaration of income tax expires on May 20, 2021 at midnight," the tax administration said. The postmark is accepted as proof of submission.

Only those who declared by paper last year will have received forms in the post.

For those filing online, the deadlines vary depending on the department where you live. They will run from May 26 to June 8.

The deadline dates (all midnight) are:

Declarations by paper

Both residents and non-residents – May 20 (the post date stamp on the letter is used to check)

Online declarations

Departments 01 to 19 (and non-residents) – May 26

Departments 20-54 – June 1

Departments 55-976 – June 8

Your avis d’impôt income tax statement will be available in your online space from July 26 / August 6 onward, depending on your department.

Those who have not opted out of a paper avis will receive this between July 30 and September 7.
