Change for primary and collège school years
Pupils will be banned from having mobile phones in school from the rentrée in September under a campaign pledge by President Macron.
Mobiles are already banned in classrooms but the new order will extend this to all areas of primary and collège – although it is not yet known how it will be enforced or if secure storage will be provided.
The education ministry has also advised that under-sevens should not be using computer or tablet screens.
