Disruption is expected across France in June as several sectors may see workers on strike.
One union is also calling for a general strike at the beginning of the month.
Below, we detail the main action set to take place.
Lidl workers – May 15 onwards
Workers at Lidl are striking Thursdays - Sundays over plans by the supermarket to introduce mandatory Sunday and public holiday shifts.
Unions in the sector are supporting the workers, and strikes are likely to disrupt shopping on these dates.
Taxi drivers - May 19 onwards
Taxi drivers are protesting across the country against changes to hospital transport fees, as well as ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Bolt.
Major demonstrations have taken place in Paris, Marseille, Toulon, and Pau among other places and there is currently no end date planned.
Farmers - May 26 onwards
Farmers began a major round of protests towards the end of May which are set to continue into June.
Roads are likely to be blocked across the country as farmers show support for a major farming deregulation bill being debated in the Assemblée nationale.
It is unknown how long or intense the action will be.
Train drivers - June 4, 5, and 11
Following May’s strikes on the rail network, which saw relatively little disruption, several unions are planning major strike action over working and pay conditions.
June 4 will see train drivers strike, while June 11 will see ticket inspectors walk out, in both cases action is expected to be nationwide.
On June 5, the CGT union is currently calling on all rail workers to walk out alongside these two professions, to bring a total halt to the rail network.
However, not all unions have yet backed a complete walkout for the Thursday (5 June) action.
Regardless, severe disruption is expected across the three days, so those planning to travel on these dates should check in advance if their service is still running.
Disruptions will be announced at 17:00 the day before the strike days at the latest for TGVs.
General strike - June 5
The CGT union is calling on workers to engage in strike action on June 5, in effect calling for a national general strike.
It is calling for the action in continued opposition to the government’s 2023 pension reforms, and over plans to remove certain tax advantages for pension-holders in France.
So far, only workers on France’s rail network are planning to strike with no other sector leaders having announced widespread action for the day.
