You should declare your UK pension
Reader query on if UK pension should be declared in France.
I have been in France for 40 plus years and have been receiving a small UK state pension for the last five years. The fisc told me this was declarable but not taxable. That sounded contrary to what I have heard. What is right? D.C.
Yes, you do declare it. The UK state old age pension is declarable as pension income here in France. It is declared first on the pink 2047 form, page 1 section 1 under pensions, and then this figure is transferred to the main blue 2042 form, page 3, box 1 AS. The fisc will need to know your total income to determine at what rate you should pay tax on your income, in the event you are elligible to be taxed on any of it.
