40 masked raiders steal from shop

A band of thieves made off with electronic goods worth €9,000 from a supermarket in Essonne.

FORTY masked people walked out of a Leclerc supermarket in the Ile-de-France with €9,000 worth of goods.

The thieves entered the supermarket in Etampes in the department of Essonne and grabbed electronic goods before making off.

Some of the masked raiders headed into the Guinette district, an area with a lot of social problems, in some cases abandoning goods as they fled. In the area some of the police who were trying to recuperate items had things thrown at them.

It is thought the incident could be connected with the fact that six employees were questioned by police the day before on suspicion of letting accomplices through checkouts without paying.
