A MOTORCYCLIST was more than twice the legal drink-drive limit when he was clocked by a speed camera riding at 257kph (159mph) on a main road in Val-d’Oise, police have said.
The 30-year-old biker, from Eure, was caught by a speed camera on Tuesday at 8pm riding his powerful motorbike along a stretch of the RD14 near Saint-Gervais, where the speed limit is 110kph (68mph).
He was arrested a short time later and a breath-test taken at the time recorded that he had 0.52 milligrams of alcohol per litre of breath, police said.
The legal limit in France is 0.25mg/l, or 0.5g/l of blood.
His licence had also been deliberately damaged to make it difficult to identify him.
Police said the man had previously been found guilty of driving while under the influence of alcohol in 2010. He was taken into custody and will appear before the court in Pontoise in October.
Last Thursday, another motorcyclist was arrested in Val d’Oise after being clocked at 221kph (137mph) in a 110kph zone.
