This historic square used to be known as the Place Royale but today goes by a different name. 

It was built by Henry IV of France between 1605 and 1612, and was seen as an urban meeting place for many French nobles and aristocrats.

Famous residents include: Victor Hugo, Sully, Émilie du Châtelet and Marguerite Louise d'Orléans.
