Easter weekend traffic warnings

Drivers urged to take extra care on the roads and try to avoid leaving big cities tomorrow morning where possible

TRAFFIC conditions around France will be difficult from 16.00 this afternoon as the Easter weekend coincides with the start of the school holidays in Zone B.

Official road watchdog Bison Futé has put in place a “red” alert on all the main roads leading out of Paris today – with particularly heavy traffic heading towards Orléans, Normandy and Brittany

An “orange” level applies in other French towns and cities, rising to red tomorrow (Saturday).

Queues are expected on the route from Bordeaux towards Spain and from Toulouse towards the Mediterranean coast. Conditions will also be difficult on Monday afternoon heading the other way.

Bison Futé is encouraging drivers to be extremely vigilant – and where possible avoid setting off between 16.00 and 20.00 this evening or between 9.00 and 14.00 tomorrow.
