Eating products with listeria bacteria present can cause symptoms such as fever, headaches, and soreness.

If you have eaten a product that may contain listeria and have any of these symptoms, you should contact your GP immediately.

Listeria bacteria can remain present for up to eight weeks after consuming the infected product.

Listeriosis - caused by listeria bacteria - is particularly dangerous for elderly and very young people, pregnant women, and immunocompromised people; it is the second-highest cause of death from food poisoning in France.
