France lockdown: Can I see people in a support bubble?

People who live alone are not allowed to form support bubbles with other households in France. Other forms of support are available.

Reader question: Will those who live alone be able to join another household for moral and psychological support as is possible in the UK?

No, authorities in France have not said that people who live alone can join “support bubbles” to socialise with other households, as they have in the UK.

French psychologist Professor Nicolas Franck told The Connexion that people who are living alone during confinement should focus on routines, exercise and healthy eating to help them maintain mental wellbeing.

SOS Help is an English-speaking helpline based in France. It is open for calls from 15:00 – 23:00 every day, on 01 46 21 46 46.

You can also contact Cancer Support France by phone or email on 0800 240 200 / helpline@cancersupportfrance.org. Although volunteers specialise in providing emotional support for people affected by cancer, President Penelope Parkinson said: “We never turn anyone away.”
