Former winner of TV’s The Voice to represent France at 2024 Eurovision

Slimane, who won TV’s ‘The Voice’ eight years ago, is to represent France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

"He has long since won the hearts of the French. It is a perfect fit," the head of the French Eurovision delegation, Alexandra Redde-Amiel told France Inter radio station on November 8.

Slimane revealed the title of the song he will perform is ‘Mon Amour' before playing it for the first time on France 2.

Next year’s Eurovision Song Contest will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024, in Malmö, Sweden.

Award-winning artist

Slimane has had two million albums sold, five NRJ Music Awards, two billion worldwide streams and seven million followers on social media, since rising to fame on the TV singing show ‘The Voice’ in 2016.

This is not the first time that France has chosen an already well-known artist to represent the country at Eurovision, with Patricia Kaas competing in 2009 and Anggun in 2012.

The 34-year-old is both the writer and composer of his own three albums, as well as writing music for other artists.

It was Slimane’s duets with singer Vitaa, which earned him a Victoire de la musique award for "Ça va ça vient" and a diamond record for “VersuS”.

France’s Eurovision history

France participated in the very first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956, and has taken part 67 times since then.

It has won the competition a total of five times, the last time being in 1977 when Marie Myriam performed L'Oiseau Et L'Enfant.

France has only placed in last place of the contest’s Grand Final once, which was in 2016 when the band Twin Twin performed Moustache.
