Sam Sauvage: the rising French pop star making a name in the UK

It is rare for Connexion to recommend an artist who does not even have an album out yet, but the charm, cool and catchy tunes of Sam Sauvage are too irresistible to ignore.

Born in Boulogne-sur-Mer (real name Hugo Brebion), 25-year-old Sam Sauvage made small but impressive waves in the UK when the video for his breakout single Les Gens Qui Dansent (j’adore) – People who dance (I love it) – caught the attention of BBC6 Music presenters Radcliffe and Maconie, who played the song a couple of times after a recommendation from guest, Russell Mael of Sparks. 

They remarked on the brilliance of the video itself, which now has over 350,000 views on YouTube. In it, the dandy singer, with his floppy hair and baggy suit, is pictured dancing in various locations around Paris to the sound of driving beats. Watch it here.

The singer has just released a new six-track EP, including the equally danceable Fin du monde.
