Tax dates to note this November in France
Second-home tax notices, income tax payments, and direct debits all coming this month
MOST POPULAR
November is already a month of changes for residents, but there are also several important tax-related deadlines coming up.
Ranging from tax notices for the taxe d'habitation to income tax payments being automatically collected, millions of people are affected.
We review the main dates.
November 2 - 26: Taxe d’habitation notices arrive
Tax notices (avis) for the second-home tax, taxe d’habitation, will begin to arrive this month.
Notices arrive at different dates depending on your payment schedule and method for receiving them.
The first set of notices will arrive in online spaces on November 2, for households which have not opted to pay the tax monthly.
Those who do pay monthly will receive their notice on November 16.
For those who opt to receive physical copies, these are posted between November 5-16 (for single-payment bills) or November 19-26 (bills paid monthly), but may arrive slightly later.
However, payment deadlines for those who pay in a single instalment do not fall until December 15 or December 20.
November 16: monthly tax instalments
Property and small business owners who have opted to pay taxes monthly (including the taxe d’habitation, taxe foncière, and the CFE business tax) may see an 11th monthly direct debit instalment taken on November 16.
This is the final instalment, as these are typically split into 10 payments, and the November deductions cover amounts left to pay if taxes increased this year.
In rare cases where there is still more to pay after the exceptional November deduction, this is taken in December.
This is also the date for the 11th instalment of monthly deductions for advance income tax payments (Prélèvement à la Source) for non-salary income received in 2026.
This includes income from self-employed work, rental income, crafts and small business work, and income from non-French sources.
However, it is possible for these payments to be split into four quarterly direct debits, the fourth of which also falls on November 16.
November 16 or 21: property wealth tax deadlines
Deadlines to pay the Impôt sur la fortune immobilière (IFI, property wealth tax) typically fall on September 15.
However, those who filed their information late, or otherwise are in a complex situation, have until November 16 to pay.
For those paying directly online, through the tax authority website or app, this is extended to November 21.
Payments are not deducted until November 26.
November 25: third income tax deduction
This is the date that a third payment is taken for income tax payments for 2025 income, if you had not paid enough via the tax-at-source system last year.
Households that owed €300 or more in additional income tax see this taken in four equal payments from September to December. Those owing less than €300 saw this taken in one lump sum in September.
The deduction is automatic, and authorities should already have bank account information for the previous deductions taken in September and October.
The final deduction will be on December 28.
November 30: deadline for taxe d'habitation direct debit
Second-home owners wanting to pay their taxe d’habitation through the direct debit prélèvement à l’échéance system have until November 30 to put this in place.
You can set up direct debit payments through your online space on the French tax website, or by contacting the tax office.
Deductions via direct debit will be made on December 28 this year.
If you opt to pay using other methods, there are December 15 (cash, cheque, bank transfer for amounts of €300 or less) or December 20 (online or using the app to make a direct payment) deadlines instead.
