€50 million of jewellery stolen
Armed robbers made a huge haul after attacking a Parisian jeweller's shop
ROBBERS made off with jewellery worth €50 million from a Paris shop yesterday.
The attack on the Bijouterie Harry Winston, Avenue Montaigne, Paris 8th, took place at 17.30.
Three armed robbers burst into the prestigious jewellers and took most of the items on display.
The robbers appeared well-informed – they knew names of some of the staff and the location of some secret hiding places.
The same shop lost about €10 million in a different attack last year.
Bijouterie Harry Winston is known for work for royalty and aristocrats as well as celebrity clients – such as Richard Burton, who bought a pear-shaped 61 carat diamond as a gift for Elizabeth Taylor. The shop also organises loans of jewellery for actresses to wear at festivals.
