Apricot glut comes at wrong time for farms
Prices of French apricots have collapsed as an early harvest saw them arrive in shops and markets at the same time as cheaper Spanish produce.
Farmers had to cut prices to bring in some income, with prices ranging from €0.80/kg to €1.20/kg, well down on the €1.50/kg production cost.
