Bookshop is a welcome drop-in for cancer chat

A bookshop and salon de thé is the cosy setting beside the River Dronne for a new, monthly drop-in centre for Cancer Support France in Brantôme, Dordogne.
Howard McCann, who owns Bookstop and sells secondhand books in English and French, holds many social events in his shop and will host North Dordogne/South Charente Cancer Support France association once a month.
It is an opportunity to find out about CSF if you have cancer or know someone who has, and to see whether it could help. It may also be a chance to find whether you would like to join the association to help out.
CSF supports English-speaking cancer patients themselves but also their carers, families and those closest to them.
It gives linguistic and practical help, information and emotional support using trained volunteers, Active Listeners, who work with the client to ensure they get the help they need.
The group has a Charente drop-in centre in Chalais Old Mairie, open 9.30-12 every second Monday of the month.
President Andrew Fry said: “It is helpful to have a place where people can pop in for a tea or coffee and a chat, find out about CSF and general information on cancer treatment in France.
