The Connexion published three interactive maps regarding changes to French roads.

The first covered the departments where speed limits of secondary roads have returned to 90km/h, as well as the percentage of how many roads in each area had done so.

The second is an update showing which cities have a mandatory low-emission zone already in place (which requires a Crit’Air sticker for any vehicle passing through), as well as where they are set to come into force by 2025.

FInally, the third map shows the ten locations where motorways are currently either under construction or where work is planned to begin.

However the government is set to announce during the course of October that some of the projects will be scrapped.

The cost of dealing with the bedbug menace

French media have run a lot of stories about bedbugs in recent weeks, as the pests have been found across swathes of public locations such as cinemas, public transport, and even libraries.

Supermarkets to sell fuel at cost price; fuel aid expected

A number of major supermarkets announced they would sell fuel at cost price either on select weekends or throughout the entire week, as part of a new agreement with the government.

Carrefour and E.Leclerc will sell fuel at cost price to consumers every day from their hypermarket service stations, whereas others such as Casino and Intermarché said they would sell fuel at the reduced price on certain weekends, up until 2024.

Up to 4,000 service stations will see reductions thanks to the scheme.

Although it may hit the profits of some supermarkets they are hoping to make their money back with customers doing their weekly shop at their hypermarkets as they fill up their cars.

€100 in fuel aid is also expected, after President Macron hinted at renewing the scheme during a speech last Sunday.

While it still needs to be officially confirmed, it could follow the same pattern as this year’s aid, and will be aimed at workers who use their cars to travel for their job or to commute to work.
