Temperatures across much of France could reach more than 30C today (June 26), as a short burst of warm weather hits much of the north and south-west.
The mercury will peak in Bordeaux and Toulouse, where temperatures could reach up to 34C and 33C.
Temperatures in parts of Brittany and Normandy are forecast to reach an unseasonably warm 30C, with coastal areas around Brest reaching 27C - around 8C higher than June averages for the city.
Paris and Lille should see temperatures of 30C.
However, the Mediterranean coast will see lower than average temperatures – around 25C in Marseille and Montpellier, and 24C in Nice – making it one of the coldest parts of the country.
For much of France June 26 will be the warmest day of the year so far, after a stormy start to the month and a particularly wet May.
The heat will not last, however – the return of Atlantic storms will see temperatures plummet by up to 10C at the start of the weekend across the north and west.

Storms continue in east
In the east storms will begin from the early afternoon, covering an area stretching from the German border to the Massif Central, as well as much of the Alps.
This will not significantly affect temperatures in the daytime – highs of around 30C are expected in Lyon, Vichy and Strasbourg – but will affect evening temperatures, as well as bring rainfall to the area.
Storms are also forecast in the Pyrenees, although temperatures along the mountain chain are still likely to be warmer than average.
Currently, there are no heightened weather warnings being issued, but Météo France has placed a number of departments in the east, south-east, and Pyrenees on a tier-two yellow warning for storms.
Some departments in central France are also facing tier-two warnings over high river levels/river flooding.
