France ranks 5th for number of universities ranked best in the world for their foreign cooperation
FRANCE has been ranked 5th for the number of universities that rank highly for their foreign outlook.
The country managed nine establishments in the top 200 of the Times Higher Education ranking of universities when viewed through the criteria of international cooperation.
The UK, with 38 universities in the list, was the highest ranked country, followed by Australia, Canada and Switzerland.
The universities were assessed for the proportion of foreign students and teachers, number of publications co-written with academics from countries other than where the university was based.
Of the top 200, 125 universities were based in Europe, however the list was topped by the university of Qatar, followed by the University of Luxembourg and the University of Hong Kong.
France’s highest entry was the École Polytechnique which was ranked 29th, followed by the Ecole normale supérieure (76th) and the Université Sophia-Antipolis (116th).
The country gained four extra entries in the top 200 compared to the Times Higher Education general rankings.
