Gayet to voice Princess Grace
Actress Julie Gayet will be the French voice of Princess Grace in the forthcoming film starring Nicole Kidman
ACTRESS Julie Gayet is in the headlines again but this time for work as opposed to her alleged relationship with President Hollande.
Ms Gayet, 41, will supply the voice of leading lady Nicole Kidman in the French-language version of Olivier Dahan’s forthcoming biopic Grace of Monaco.
Dubbing company Alter Ego had posted the news on its website but Gayet’s involvement was overshadowed by the revelations about her and Mr Hollande in Closer magazine.
The announcement may upset some French film film fans, as Danièle Douet has dubbed almost all of Kidman’s film roles since Stanley Kubrick’s 1999 erotic thriller Eyes Wide Shut.
It is the first time Gayet has dubbed for an English-speaking actress, though she has previously lent her voice to family friendly animation Kérity et la Maison des contes (Eleanor’s Secret).
Dahan’s Grace of Monaco, which hits screens across France on May 14, the same day it opens the Cannes Film Festival, explores how, at the height of her fame, Grace Kelly turned her back on Hollywood and married Prince Rainie.
The director is best known for the 2007 film La Vie en Rose, which won French actress Marion Cotillard a best actress Oscar in 2008. This latest film, which is out of competition at Cannes, was shot in Monaco, the south of France, Paris, Ventimiglia and Belgium.
