Le Pen in UK for Brexit campaign
FRONT National leader Marine Le Pen is to head to the UK to join the ‘Brexit’ campaign in the run up to the June 23 referendum.
The far-right party’s head of communication, Alain Vizier, confirmed on France 24 that ‘while no date has been set, she will definitely be going to London’.
Ms Le Pen is expected to support former Ukip MEP Janice Atkinson, who is part of Le Pen's Europe of Nations and Freedom Group in the European Parliament, as she campaigns for Britain to leave the EU.
The FN hopes that a ‘Brexit’ could trigger a similar vote in France. Ukip leader Nigel Farage, however, is unlikely to welcome Ms Le Pen’s involvement in the campaign, as he has publicly distanced himself and his Eurosceptic party from her support in the past.
