Météo France orange storm alert for 15 departments
Météo France has put 15 departments on an orange storm alert for this afternoon and evening, “from the South West to the Massif Central”.
The departments affected are l'Allier, l'Ariège, l'Aveyron, le Cantal, la Corrèze, la Creuse, la Haute-Garonne, le Gers, la Loire, la Haute-Loire, le Lot, le Puy-de-Dôme, les Hautes-Pyrénées, le Tarn and le Tarn-et-Garonne.
Violent storms are set to arrive from 4pm today (Wednesday) and will be gone by Thursday morning.
Hail, strong wind, and rain of between 50mm to 80mm in a short time are expected, according to Météo France.
The warning comes just days after an orange storm warning was issued to Côtes-d'Armor, Ille-et-Vilaine and Manche in the west of the country, due to rising hot temperatures.
