Monster catfish could be record
Fisherman claims record after hauling 130kg catfish from the Petit-Rhône in “unforgettable battle”
A FISHERMAN in the Camargue may have broken the record for the biggest catfish pulled out of a river.
Sébastien Delabre posted pictures of himself posing with the 130kg, 2.73 metre long silurus after “an unforgettable battle”.
After naming the fish Chichi Mr Delabre said he released it back into the waters of the Petit-Rhône, in the Gard, “in good health”.
Mr Delabre, who lives in Montbrison in the Rhône-Alpes said the monster catch was “years of fishing rewarded”.
While his claim that the fish is a world-record-breaking catch have not been substantiated, a hussier has noted that it is the biggest catch in France.
A previous claimant for the world record was an Italian Dino Ferrari, who fished a 2.67m, 127kg catfish out of the Pô on February 19.
