New edition of Mein Kampf in 2016
Improved French translation will be available from next year after publisher’s rights expire
A NEW French translation of Mein Kampf will be available in France from next year.
The book is currently available in France, and was first published in the country in 1934, nine years after the original was brought out in Germany.
The new edition will be published by Fayard, as copyright ends at the start of January 1, 70 years after the death of the author.
Fayard says that the book is “central to the history of the 20th century” and will be printed with commentary from researchers to place it in context.
According to the marketing group GFK, around 2,500 copies of the 1934 translation of Mein Kampf were sold in 2015. It has never been banned from publication in the country.
A new version is also to be released in Germany on January 1, the first since the end of the Second World War.
