Orange acts after 'exorbitant' bills
Mobile internet users will receive warnings to prevent them running up massive bills, after 50 customers complain
PHONE operator Orange has introduced emergency measures to protect mobile internet users after about 50 customers received huge bills for tens of thousands of euros.
The firm says it will freeze any mobile internet bill that hits €200 a month for customers using its business 3G package, which allows a laptop to be connect to the internet anywhere in France.
Orange said it regretted that some customers had received "bills for an exorbitant amount" and said it would be making individual contact with those concerned.
Last week an insurance company director in Nantes complained after getting a €159,000 bill for connecting to the internet using the Orange mobile network.
Two other customers living in Valenciennes near the border with Belgium reported bills for €46,000 and €39,500.
