Problems of private plates
Be aware, if you have private car number plates you wish to sell and are about to move to France, make sure to sell them BEFORE the move.
I had hoped to sell mine but was informed by the DVLA that this was not possible as the car had been officially exported and needed to be “available for inspection”.
Their advice was to take the car back to the UK, re-register, MOT the car and then the plates could be sold – highly impractical!
Interestingly, the UK website through which I had hoped to sell seemed unaware of this.
