QVC wants a slice of French market
American-based shopping channel plans to start broadcasting from a base in Paris in late Spring 2015
SHOPPING channel QVC is planning a move into France, and hopes to create 200 jobs when it begins broadcasting from Paris in late Spring 2015.
QVC - which stands for quality, value, convenience - began broadcasting in the US in 1986. It now operates in nine countries, having ventured overseas a decade later to Germany and by 2001 was also broadcasting in the UK and Japan.
Three years ago, the company moved into Italy, despite the state of the economy there - and, 18 months ago, added a Chinese arm to its overseas operation.
The move into France comes after President Francois Hollande loosened regulations on broadcasting in the country.
