Snow and ice alerts today
Météo France has warned of dangerous weather in 15 departments
FIFTEEN departments are under an orange alert at Météo France for snow and black ice this morning.
During the morning, snow is expected to fall along the east of the country, moving towards the border areas. However snowfall is heaviest in Savoie, the east of Isère and in the Alpes-de-Haute Provence.
In areas affected, Météo France warns conditions could be dangerous, advising to be very careful if you need to travel, and to avoid unnecessary journeys. You should also travel suitably equipped in case of becoming blocked in your car for long periods.
Clouds and rain are expected across most of the country later today, with some light snow in the south-east, Franche-Comté, Burgundy and Auvergne and more overnight, growing heavier in Burgundy and the Rhônes-Alpes.
Tomorrow will see sunny spells in the south-east, north and west, with snow around the centre, east and north-east, while looking ahead to Saturday, there will be light cloud and sunny spells in the south-east and north-west and clouds or rain across much of the rest of France.
On Saturday rain is expected to be concentrated around Burgundy and Champagne-Ardenne, spreading to Auvergne and the Rhônes-Alpes in the afternoon. Some light snow is predicted in Auvergne and Midi-Pyrénées.
Sunday will see sunny spells across most of France, though heavy cloud is predicted in the Rhônes-Alpes and Auvergne in the morning, and in Burgundy, Champagne-Ardenne and the north-east in the afternoon.
