Woman, 71, “cooked husband’s remains”
Septuagenarian was covered in blood when she was arrested, and investigators found parts of murder victim’s body in pan
A SEPTUAGENARIAN arrested last month on suspicion of murdering her husband had cooked parts of his body, a source close to the case has said.
The 71-year-old woman was taken into custody early on May 22 after a neighbour in Longwy, Meurthe-et-Moselle, had alerted police, AFP has reported.
Her clothing was covered in her husband’s blood and other remains.
Investigators found that the 80-year-old victim, a retired steelworker, had been killed with a pestle and mortar before being dismembered.
His heart, nose and genitals had been placed in a saucepan and cooked, a source familiar with the case told AFP.
The lawyer for the 71-year-old mother-of-10 said that her client suffered a “delusional disorder”.
The woman has been placed in the psychiatric unit of the penitentiary centre in Nancy Maxéville, pending psychiatric reports which will determine whether it is accessible or not a criminal sanction.
