Covid-19: Can we travel through France to our home?
We have waited for the lockdown to end staying put in the south of France where we were when it began but now want to get back to our full-time residence in Brittany. It will take us one long day to return but we are not sure if we can travel. I have emailed our local mayor's office but no reply. Can you clarify?
Whether or not you should be travelling depends on the reason.
The official government Covid-19 website says that your place of confinement should not be changed but that, in special situations – such as the end of a holiday let, for the protection of vulnerable people or animals, or to look after children) it is permissible to return to your permanent residence.
If you fall into that category you should travel with your signed attestation (cross the box "Déplacements pour motif familial impérieux" as applicable ) and ID. So in your case, whether or not you can travel depends on your reason.
