France lockdown: Can I go to the dentist?
You can go to the dentist, as long as you have an appointment and a travel exemption form.
Reader Question: I can't find anything online about what is happening with dentists here in France. Will they be open during the lockdown?
Yes, dentists will stay open during the second confinement in France.
Rules for the second lockdown specify that medical appointments that cannot be carried out remotely or delayed can be maintained during confinement.
This means that if you have an existing dental appointment or need to visit the dentist during confinement in France, you can do so.
Note that, while a routine check-up might be able to be delayed, it is not advised to postpone more serious dental care.
As going to the dentist is a medical appointment, you can travel over 1km from your home to attend, with no time restraints.
You will need to carry a travel exemption form, ticking the box: Consultations, examens et soins ne pouvant être assurés à distance et l’achat de médicaments.
The travel exemption form is available to print and download here (in French). There is an English version available and also an easy-read version with pictograms. There is also a digital version available via the TousAntiCovid smartphone app.
