France lockdown: Do curfew measures still apply?

Reader question: Do we now have a lockdown and a curfew? So, we can only go out with an attestation for one short walk a day etc... but in places where there is a curfew we can’t do this after 21:00?

France's second national lockdown came into effect on October 30. Before that, there was a 21:00 curfew in place in 54 departments around the country.

As soon as lockdown was introduced, the curfew measures were immediately repealed. However, the French government did not initially announce this, leading to some confusion in early November.

This means that you are allowed to take your dog for a walk or exercise for an hour between 21:00 and 06:00.

Jean-Paul Hamon, president of the Fédération des Médecins, told The Connexion that it was necessary to drop curfew measures after only two weeks and impose a national lockdown.

“It was necessary to not wait for the possible effect of the curfew as the number of cases had risen sharply in recent days and more restrictive measures had to be taken as a matter of urgency,” he said.
