A new direct flight route connecting Bordeaux and Malta is set to launch in 2027, giving travellers in south-west France a new way to reach the Mediterranean island.

KM Malta Airlines will operate the seasonal summer route between Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport and Malta from April 1, 2027.

Up until now, KM Malta Airlines flights between Bordeaux and Malta connect via Amsterdam. The new service will offer a direct alternative, operating twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays with one way fares starting from around €150.

“This new service will enrich the business and cultural tourism opportunities departing from Bordeaux,” Simon Dreschel, president of the management board of Bordeaux-Mérignac airport, said.

Flights from Bordeaux will leave at 22:05 on Mondays, arriving in Malta at 00:35 the following day, and at 10:15 on Thursdays, landing at 12:45.

Flights from Malta to Bordeaux will depart at 18:35 on Mondays, arriving at 21:15, and at 6:45 on Thursdays, arriving at 9:25. The schedule though is subject to change.

David Curmi, executive chairman of KM Malta Airlines, said the new route marked another step in strengthening the airline's connections with France and giving visitors more opportunities to explore Malta.
