Ski resort operator Compagnie des Alpes has announced today (September 10) that it will be financing a UK to France ski train service for the 2021/22 season.
The ‘Travelski Express’ train, organised in partnership with Eurostar, offers a route from London-Saint Pancras towards 12 ski resorts in the Tarentaise Valley in Savoie.
It will run every weekend during the winter season, leaving London on a Friday evening and travelling directly to Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Moûtiers, arriving on a Saturday morning.
From there, Compagnie des Alpes will offer connecting bus services to La Plagne, Val d'Isère, Les Arcs, Tignes, Méribel and Les Menuires.
Return journeys will run on Saturdays.
Eurostar had run an annual ski train service, but it was cancelled in the 2020/21 season due to reduced demand and travel restrictions during the pandemic.
The Travelski Express will only be available as part of a holiday package offered by European ski operator Travelski, which is a subsidiary of Compagnie des Alpes. These packages start at £640 per person and include ski passes and hotel transfers.
Compagnie des Alpes is responsible for the running of over a dozen French ski resorts, as well as theme parks across Europe.
“Faced with an unprecedented health crisis which caused a complete shutdown in activities for the whole of last year’s winter season, Compagnie des Alpes is working closely with partners to facilitate a quick and strong recovery for the mountain economy,” said the group’s director of outdoor activities, David Ponson.
