The most popular names given to babies born in France last year (2024) have been revealed by French statistics agency, Insee.
The report, published on July 9, continues a pattern of French baby name tendencies that has remained relatively constant in recent years.
Louise was once again the most popular name for girls, closely followed by Jade.
Boys were most commonly called Gabriel, a name which has held the number one position since 2015, with the exception of 2020 when Léo jumped into first place.
The name Léon was the only new entry into the top ten boy names in 2024, while no new names appear on the top ten list for girls.

Jade, which came fourth in 2023, has moved to second place, overtaking Alba and Ambre.
The remaining top-ten names are extremely close.
Emma remains in fifth place, however Romy climbs from ninth to seventh place and Alma climbs from seventh to sixth.
Most popular girl name by region
Livia was the only top regional entry (Corsica) to not make it into the national top ten list.

Gabriel and Raphaël maintain their spots at the top of the ranking, however Louis and Léo have swapped places since 2023’s baby name list.
Noah, which came sixth in 2023 made it into 2024’s top five by replacing Maël.
Isaac has dropped out of the top ten, replaced by Léon.
Most popular boy name by region
Malo is a Breton name, therefore most popular in the region of Britanny.
