A cheese has been created to help ease inflammation, colitis and irritable bowel syndrome.

Researchers at Inra in Rennes took propionic bacteria known both as anti-inflammatory and for making holes in cheese and got a Breton cheesemaker to use them in Emmental. Tests gave positive results and also helped chemotherapy induced pain.
