The ability to connect mobiles, tablets or laptops to the internet quickly and easily can be a lifeline for visitors and increase the likelihood of repeat business and glowing reviews.
Having all the information needed to hand for your guests’ arrival means they can set themselves up as soon as they are ready.
Guests will need your wifi network name and wifi code; holidaymakers may also need your broadband company’s technical support number, your account number with it, and your telephone number.
The first two can be found on the back of your modem, the others on a bill from your provider. An influx of people joining your wifi will mean it will slow a little.
The best housekeeping rule to ease this is to ask everyone to disconnect when they’re not using it. And if someone wants to download a large file, say a film, it is best for them to connect to the modem using an Ethernet cable as this will provide a faster speed.
Glitches can usually be solved by powering down your modem and repowering it half an hour later. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, your provider may ask you to reset the modem which is simple to do.
Lastly, we would recommend that you check the internet is accessible in each room of your house and, of course, your garden.
For those areas where there is no signal, or the signal isn’t strong, you could consider purchasing wifi extenders.
