'2020 is over!' Paris metro station gets optimistic new sign
At the "Bonne Nouvelle" station on line 8, the end of a difficult year is celebrated
The sign marking the Bonne Nouvelle metro station in Paris has been changed by transport company RATP to include the phrase, “L’année 2020 est finie!” (2020 is finished). Bonne Nouvelle means good news.
RATP said it made the alteration to “definitively turn the page on 2020”, which for many has been a difficult year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We were #MobilizedTogether this year, we will of course be together next year, but to end the year on a lighter note, our Bonne Nouvelle station tells you this in no uncertain terms,” RATP wrote on Twitter.
Bonne Nouvelle station is located on line 8 between the 2nd, 9th and 10th arrondissements in Paris.

This is not the first time RATP has humourously changed metro signs.
In 2019, 12 metro stations were renamed to celebrate 60 years of French comic book legends Asterix and Obelix.
