First heritage day for special garden
Charming English-style Jardin de la Mothe is open for the Journées du Patrimoine for the first time
THE JARDIN de la Mothe – open later this month as part of the Journées du Patrimoine – was recently listed by the Culture Ministry as a “Jardin Remarquable”.
Created around an old Avyron farm by an artist, this private jardin à l’anglaise was started in 1997 and this is the first time it has been opened for the European Heritage Days.
The charming spot is full of different plants and has topiaried shrubs and hedges, beautiful views and a pretty house, covered in a climbing rose called Rosa Mermaid.
It will be open for free visits and guided tours on September 20-21 from 10.00-18.00.
For more about the Journées du Patrimoine, and to find out what sites are open for visits in your area, see Journées du Patrimoine
Scroll down on the homepage to put in your region and/or department and, if you want, narrow the choices down further by types of activity, whether the location is open “exceptionally” (ie. it is not usually possible to visit it) etc.
