French voted ‘worst tourists’

The French came bottom of 27 nationalities in the second annual Best Tourist study by online travel specialists Expedia

FRENCH people are the world’s worst tourists according to an international study among hotel staff.

The survey, by TNS INfratest for the online travel company Expedia, concluded that the French were poor at using foreign languages, the most likely to complain, the least generous in tipping and the least polite.

The one consolation was that the French were the most unobtrusive.

After the French came the Spanish and Greeks. The Japanese and British came out first and second in the study, which looked at 27 nationalities.

About 4,500 hoteliers were questioned in the second annual global Best Tourist survey.
