THE article “Cassoulet was invented to fend off the British” (French Living, November) is historic drivel.
There were no British in France during the Hundred Years War as Great Britain did not exist. England and Scotland were two different countries and, in fact, the Scots fought on the French side.
I can only hope the writer is a better cook than historian.
