Map of deconfinement by region in France is a fake

A map is being circulated on social media showing France divided into three zones with dates for when each zone will end home confinement.

It claims to be issued by the government and shows the logos of the Ministère de l'intérieur (Home Office), Ministère des Solidarités et de la Santé (Health Ministry) and Ministère de la Défense but it is fake.

Both the French prime minister's office and the Directorate General of Health have issued statements that the map is false.

Apart from the fact that no official statements have been made about such an end to confinement two clues on the map show it is false.

Firstly it is attributed to the Drac (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs) of the Hauts-de-France but this kind of service has nothing to do with this type of health decision.

Secondly one of the three official logos shows the Ministère de la Défense whereas this service was renamed Ministère des Armées several years ago.

The map was spurned no doubt by prime minister Edouard Philippe's statements last week before the National Assembly's information inquiry on the Covid-19 epidemic in which he said it was "probable" that deconfinement in France would not be done "at once and for everyone" but probably by region, age groups or testing.

He said the government was exploring several scenarios

No decision has been announced yet despite what this fake map claims.
