Microwave iPhone 6 Recharging hoax
Internet hoax suggests that latest iOS8 software means iPhone 6 has microwave recharging option
A CONTROVERSIAL internet forum that recently published nude photos of actresses is also said to be behind a hoax claiming that it is possible to recharge the new iPhone 6 in a microwave.
Members of the 4chan forum developed a product description which was carefully designed to look like an authentic Apple document and was sent out through Twitter.
It explains that ‘Wave’ is the latest software addition to iOS8 that allows users to charge their phones wirelessly in their microwave. France Info said that several tens of victims has fallen for the hoax and destroyed their phones.
The forum had first discussed the idea of tricking ‘stupid preteens’ into putting their mobile phones in a microwave in 2013, said France Info, and the concept had been taken up by forum users more recently to time with the launch of the latest version of the iPhone.
Last year members of 4chan were behind an internet hoax that suggested that iOS7 made a phone waterproof.
It is well known that users should never put metal in a microwave.
