More than 4,000 personal letters by Madame Bovary author Gustave Flaubert have been put online at tinyurl.com/y9elpa8g
Flaubert was known for the obsessive care he took over crafting his books, but his letters – including ones to Victor Hugo and Guy de Maupassant – are said to reveal his personality au naturel.
The University of Rouen project has involved 30 researchers over five years.
