Parking costs in most areas of Paris have increased sharply in 2026, with drivers in some arrondissements seeing a more than 20% increase in hourly costs compared to last year, some as high as 39%.
An analysis of the cost of fixed parking (in a lot, underground car park, etc) in the capital by online parking app Parclick saw increases disproportionately affect eastern districts.
In the 20th arrondissement for example, hourly average parking costs increased +39% from €1.29 to €1.80 between December 2025 and January 2026.
The neighbouring 19th recorded a +27.7% increase (€1.63 to €2.09), compared to a lower 8.3% increase in the western 15th.
However, not all areas saw prices rise – the central 2nd saw parking costs fall by -17.7% at the turn of the year. Parclick highlighted this was due to a deliberate price drop, as opposed to a long-term strategy to reduce parking costs in the area.
Before the start of 2026, parking space costs varied in arrondissements from €1.04 to €3.87, marking a +272% increase from the cheapest to most expensive.
The 3rd, 7th, and 16th were the most expensive, with average prices above €3 per hour.
Roadside parking saw even steeper costs at the end of 2025, with a fixed rate of €6 per hour in the 1st to 11th arrondissements, and €4 per hour in the 12th to 20th.
Daily caps of €75 / €50 are in place, but this is still a significant outlay, with Parclick advising drivers to reserve a fixed parking spot in advance.
Outside of the capital, costs have remained more stable, dropping by -0.3% nationally, and by -8% in Lyon.
However, some cities have seen overall increases including Bordeaux, where costs increased between 3% and 4%.
Higher parking costs may affect driving and commuting plans by residents, however this was not listed as a major factor for most voters in the upcoming nationwide municipal elections in March 2026.
