Reader Question: How can I find land clearance equipment that I can borrow or rent inexpensively?

Many private companies offer rentals at fairly affordable prices and you can search online to find and compare those near you.

Use words such as location matériel défrichage (land clearance equipment rental) or débroussaillage (this refers to the obligatory clearance of scrub and low branches in areas at fire risks) and your department to find rentals near you.

You could also look generally for matériel de chantier (manual work site equipment).

Depending on how much work needs doing, it may be easier to hire a professional.

If they are accredited to offer Services à la personne, you may be able to obtain tax credits covering up to 50% of the cost under the heading of petits travaux de jardinage

You can also receive tax credits if you directly employ a gardener to do the work for you.

It is also worth asking your mairie if they have help available or can point you towards a trusted local source.

Borrowing equipment from neighbours may also be an option.

Note that when undertaking mandatory clearance, this should be done before the start of summer.

Otherwise, you risk a fine.
