The final deadline to submit your spring income tax declaration (for 2024 income) in France falls this Thursday (June 5), and applies to those living in departments 55 to 95 or an overseas department.
After this date, everyone should have completed their declaration, and received an estimation of any tax still to pay or (where appropriate) refunds due to them, as well as proof of submission.
However, there are several ways for declarants to make changes after submitting the information.
Declarations can be changed up to the deadline for your department and after this an additional grace period is in place this year that allows further amendments.
Declarants have the opportunity to alter the information submitted online until ‘the end of June’ according to the official service-public.fr website, and up until this point declarations are fully modifiable.
This can be done by logging into your personal space on the French tax website, where you will have the chance to go back into the declaration you made, and correct it.
If you declared via a physical paper form, you will have to send in a new declaration, writing at the top DECLARATION RECTIFICATIVE, ANNULE ET REMPLACE.
If you realise you made a mistake after receive your avis d’impôt tax statement, you need to write a letter of réclamation, including:
Name and address
Numéro fiscal (tax number)
What tax is concerned – in this case your Déclaration 2025 des revenus de 2024
The change(s) you wish to make
Proof/justification for the claim you are making
You also need to sign the letter.
You send this to the same office to which you sent your paper declaration.
Note however that if you originally completed the declaration online, you cannot send a physical correction letter and must make the changes through your personal online space.
Changes via website possible later in the year
There will also be an opportunity later in the year to make certain changes to an online declaration.
In July or August, the Accédez à la correction en ligne button will become available on your personal space on the tax site, which will allow you to alter your spring declaration.
The period for adjustments runs until December, however the exact dates are yet to be confirmed.
You will not be able to change personal information such as address or marital status, but can alter information about income and expenses.
You will then receive an updated avis with the recalculated levels of tax you will need to pay.

If in doubt inform authorities
In either case – correcting by the June deadline or later in the year – if you have a question to the tax office you can use the secure online messaging system via your personal space.
Note that if you made your original declaration via the impots.gouv mobile application it is also possible to make any changes via this same route.
