Why has my French 'pension de reversion' stopped?

Reader Question: My husband passed away in 2019. He received a small pension for the time he worked in France and the pension body was paying some money to me, but this suddenly stopped and I do not know why. 

A widow/er will often be entitled to a reduced amount from their spouse’s pension body or bodies, called pension de reversion. 

For example, the general regime for most workers provides for a pension at 54% of the ‘basic’ pension for widow/ers aged 55 or more. 

You have to formally request this from the pension body (you can do it online at info-retraite.fr or use a paper form, found here.

This payment may be suspended if your own income rises above a certain level (for the basic regime this is €24,232 a year, but only 70% of work income is counted). 

So, this could be the explanation for the stoppage. 

We suggest asking for a meeting with the pension body, or seek help from a branch of France Services.
